This November, I had the honor of attending the Design Leadership Network Summit in Madrid, surrounded by some of the most talented designers, architects, and creative leaders in our industry. It was an experience that combined education, inspiration, and connection in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
A Gathering of Design Minds
The DLN Summit brings together leaders in design to share ideas, explore trends, and reimagine what it means to create spaces that truly serve people. From thought-provoking conversations to immersive cultural experiences, the week was filled with opportunities to learn and grow alongside peers who are pushing boundaries in the field.
The sessions focused on leadership, innovation, and the future of design — but what stood out most to me were the personal moments of connection. Hearing how other designers approach challenges, balance creativity with business, and stay inspired reminded me how universal the creative journey really is.
Inspiration in Every Detail
Madrid was the perfect backdrop for reflection. The city is layered with history and modernity, and everywhere you turn, there is a story told through color, texture, and form. The architecture, the art, even the light — everything carries a sense of craftsmanship and care that resonates deeply with how I approach design.
Exploring the streets of Madrid sparked new ideas for materials, palettes, and the way we think about spatial flow. It was a reminder that inspiration often lives in the details, waiting to be noticed.
Bringing It Back Home
At Stephanie Larsen Interiors, we believe that good design begins with curiosity. Experiences like the DLN Summit allow us to continue evolving and deepening that curiosity. The conversations and ideas shared in Madrid will directly influence the way our team approaches upcoming projects — with a renewed commitment to authenticity, balance, and emotional connection in every space we create.
It was an unforgettable week of inspiration and collaboration. I returned home both reenergized and grounded, reminded that the true heart of design lies not just in beauty, but in the intention behind it.
